Another Monday

It seems that I am making a habit of writing blog posts on Monday. I guess writing once a week is a pretty good goal for me. After chasing kids around for 12 hours, I don't have much left in my to write blog posts. But I think I could do it once a week. And besides on Monday nights Clark has guy night so he isn't even here. So, Monday nights it is!
Well, today was an interesting day. It started off like normal, me waking up at about 6 am so that I can shower before Sadie and Jack wake up. Monday is always my catch up day. I usually don't do much "housework" on the weekends so on Monday it is a bit piled up. And I don't mind that. I like truly having a bit of a break for 2 days and focusing completely on family time. So, I put two loads of clothes in, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned the bathroom, made beds and straightened the house. By that time it was 8:30 and Jack went down for his morning nap. I came back in the living room and sat down to pick up my Bible and journal and Sadie went straight to the table beside the couch to get her Bible and journal. (Sorry for the repeat if you say this on FB!) This is a habit that I am trying to instill in Sadie. I have only really been working with her for a week. But I truly want her to love spending time with Father and to see her Mother doing the same thing. I read in a book one time (think it was Noel Piper) that said you shouldn't just start doing "quiet times" with your children when they reach the age of 13, this should be something that is instilled in them they are young. And so, we are working on this with her. I love, love, love to hear what she is "reading". Like today for example, she said, "Goliath did not obey his parents, so he died." (Sorry for the repeat from FB again!) Anyway, I laughed inside because I thought, she must hear "Children obey your parents" a whole lot! After Jack got up, I took them to the playground. The weather today was CRAZY! I was in long sleeves and jacket and the kids both had jackets on...in MAY...in the south. Oh my, it was crazy, but I am ever so thankful for the blessing of great weather. We played heard on the playground and I loved hearing the squeals as they went down the slides. After we got home, they both had a great lunch and I thought, man this has been a good day! And then....Jack tripped and fell and I look over to see his mouth full of blood. Oh great...now my heart is racing...what do I do?? I look in his mouth to see he has bit his tongue. Not through, thank the Lord, but all the same, there was blood and I had to make it stop! Finally, I got him to calm down and it stopped bleeding. But he didn't take his whole nap and was just a little fussy the rest of the day. So, all of my plans went out the window and I cared for a little boy who was hurting. And that is the part of being a mommy where it is okay to just drop everything and love on your baby. Thankfully the owners of the house where we live (they live next door) is a retired pediatrician. So, he reassured me that it would heal and Jack would be okay. But every time I look at his tongue, my heart hurts for him. I know there will be many, many more times this will happen, especially with the little climber that I have, but it still makes me sad :(
And so now...the day is almost done, I have two little ones fast asleep (praise the Lord it didn't take long tonight!) and I am enjoying a little down time for the next hour before I hit the bed.
And then....we will start all over again tomorrow! I am so blessed to be a mommy to these two little ones. My prayer is that I will be so in tune with Father that I will overflowed with His Love and His Grace and His Peace as I daily deal with the good, bad and the ugly with these two! :)
And so...that is a running narrative of my day. I hope it was not to boring. Sorry if it was, it's all I have got today.
Until next time....

I love reading about your sweet family, Laura! Maybe I can make an effort to post once a week as well...it seems like I have gotten out of the habit.

After I read your post on fb, I tried (again) to let Lauren do some reading of her own while I had quiet time (she has dropped her nap in the past few months!!!) but she TALKED the entire time, as usual. I have a chatty girl on my hands (but she gets it honest!) :)

It is such a blessing to be a mom!

Now, I didn't say Sadie was quiet. She did talk..a lot, but she was looking at her Bible and she was coloring in her journal. So, I consider that a step. And she did get a spanking for disobeying, and for the life of me I can't remember why right now. But, it is a start. I figure in a couple of years, she might very well get the hang of it! And so...we continue to plug on... :)

It's so good for me to hear other people have days like that as well. At the end of each day I'm utterly wrecked, physcially exhausted. Then I think over what I did all day and when you line it out, it doesn't look like all that much. But we're going and going and going from breakfast to bedtime!!
Love you!!
